Helping Neurodivergent Thinkers, Creatives & Explorers Design Careers That Light Them Up

IEvery Young Person Deserves a Career That Excites Them—Not One That Traps Them.

I'm Kirsten McKinnon, and I’m not here to give you the same tired career advice. I’m here to disrupt the way we think about work and to challenge the outdated career system that fails so many young people—especially neurodivergent minds, creatives, and those struggling to find direction.

I know what it means to fight for a child’s future. I’m a mother of three adult children, each of whom I’ve guided through designing and developing careers that align with their unique strengths and passions. But my mission became deeply personal when I nearly lost one of my children to severe illness at just 14 years old.

During those long, uncertain days in the children’s Intensive Care Unit, I made a commitment: I would dedicate my life to helping teens and young adults find careers that truly light them up. Because life is too short to waste on a path that dims their potential. They are a blessing, and I believe with every fibre of my being that parents have the power to champion their child's future—not by forcing them into safe, traditional choices, but by helping them explore, create, and align with work that makes them come alive.

I’m Kirsten McKinnon, a Career Design Specialist dedicated to helping neurodivergent thinkers, creatives, and those feeling lost in their career direction break free from outdated career systems. Here we focus on curiosity, strengths, and alignment, to build careers that truly light you up.

Why Career Champion Co. Exists

Too many young adults stumble into careers that leave them drained, uninspired, or completely disengaged. They follow paths dictated by outdated systems, rigid expectations, or a fear of doing something different. And for neurodivergent individuals and creatives, this struggle is even greater. They don’t fit inside the box—and they shouldn’t have to.

At Career Champion Co., we’re here to help parents and their teens rewrite the script. Our mission is clear:

  • To champion curiosity over compliance.

  • To promote continuous learning over rigid career ladders.

  • To create careers by design, not by default.

This isn’t about filling roles; it’s about aligning work with passion, potential, and energy—because when young people feel engaged in what they do, they thrive.

The Career System is Broken—Let’s Fix It Together.

If you’re a parent, you’re not just raising a child—you’re raising a future adult. You have the power to be their greatest advocate, to show them that careers aren’t just about earning a paycheck but about creating a life that feels meaningful.

  • If your child is neurodivergent, they need career guidance that embraces their unique way of thinking, not one that forces them to fit into traditional models.

  • If your child is creative, they deserve a career that fuels their imagination, not one that drains them.

  • If your child is lost, they need structured support to explore, experiment, and gain clarity without pressure.

Careers Shouldn’t Feel Like a Life Sentence.

At Career Champion Co., we refuse to let young people settle for uninspired work. We challenge parents to embrace exploration, to encourage bold career moves driven by passion, curiosity, and strengths. Being a career champion isn’t about steering your child into safe, predictable waters—it’s about fostering discovery, resilience, and courage.

Together, we can ensure the next generation doesn’t just survive in their careers—they thrive.

If you’re ready to guide your child toward a future that excites them, let’s start building it today.
